Acne on the Scalp

We all use various shampoos, conditioners and other products on our hair. They are usually greasy and oily, especially those used by people who have troublesome hair. We would never think of applying many of these products on our faces. However, we forget that the scalp also has a layer of skin just like our faces do. This layer of skin gets irritated and can end up with the same infections that occur on the face. That includes the dreaded pimples and lesions.

Acne on the scalp is not as common as that on other parts of the body. However, it occurs in much the same way as any other. Initially, the sebaceous glands produce excessive oils that get secreted through the pores of the skin. These oils are prone to invasion by bacteria on the skin surface leading to inflammation. Other contaminants such as dandruff in the hair and ingredients in hair products also cause clogging of the pores of the skin.

The hair can literally be infested with black-heads and white-heads or even more severe inflammations filled with pus. Although these bumps are not visible, they definitely become noticed when they become itchy and painful. Take note of this, the next time you feel like scratching your head.

Use of a mild shampoo would be invaluable in tackling this condition. Look for those that have salicylic acid in the ingredients. This active agent is useful in clearing the dead skin cells and other contaminants that clog up the pores of the skin. The compound is particularly useful since it does not cause bleaching of the hair which can happen with such compounds as benzoyl peroxide. Presence of many contaminants also makes this remedy useful in preventing further clogging of the pores.

Some effective treatments are found right at home using normal everyday products. To combat the oily skin surface, use common baby powder on the hair. Make sure to rub it in on the skin surface and not on the hair. This is effective in causing the skin to dry and prevent excessive oils on the skin. Be careful not to apply too much and make sure to rub it in fully to avoid stains on the hair.

By using proper treatments and keeping your hair clean and free from contaminants, the bumps would get healed with time. This would also save you from pulling out your hair.

How Improved Physical Well-Being Can Help You Live Better Longer

Our bodies are certainly a mystical, magical machine. It is totally amazing how inter-related all the functions of our body are. The best analogy I can think of, that most of us can relate to, is a car. My husband has always cautioned me to check the oil and water in the car every time I fill it up with gas. When we neglect to do so the condition of any other system in the car doesn't matter. It won't run.

The same is true with our body. You could say that our heart is the motor of our body. When we don't do what is necessary to take care of our heart, we don't run, or walk, or crawl. We don't exist anymore.

Heart disease is the #1 killer in the United States today.

Your heart is just like any other muscle in your body. If you don't use it you lose it. You have heard time and time again. All it takes is 30 minutes of aerobic exercise 3 to 4 times a week to keep your heart happy. In the Gallup Management Journal it is stated that when 400,000 Americans were surveyed, 27% stated they get 30 minutes or more exercise 5 days a week. Not a good percentage.

Aerobic exercise does not mean marathon running. It does not mean fitness club fees. You could drastically reduce your risk of heart attack and heart disease simply by taking a brisk walk around your neighborhood 3 or 4 times a week. If you don't currently get much exercise you should start slowly and work yourself up to walking a mile and a half in 30 to 35 minutes. Of course you want to check with your Dr. before making any changes to your fitness program. You have your car checked for road worthy before any long trip, don't you? So to live better longer, increase your heart rate three to four times a week.

Dr. Mitch Berg tells us that diet and exercise have been shown to have a positive affect on people with breast, prostate and colon cancer. It also plays a role in how well people do during cancer treatment and in the following years.

We want to keep our entire body moving, from the top of our head to the bottom of our feet.

We increase the quality of our life by keeping our heart conditioned. Even though our heart is beating that does not mean we are living a better life longer. It simply means we are living longer.

Our heart is the most important muscle in our body but is by far not the only consideration to healthy physical well-being.

Besides keeping ourselves fit with physical exercise there are other components affecting our physical well-being. Some of these include:

Diet - It is no secret that we need to feed our body properly to fuel it for the exercise that is vital to balanced physical well-being.

Sleep - It has long been known that the average requirement of sleep per night is 7 to 8 hours. Today, unfortunately the average sleep per night has been reported as 6.7 hours on week-days. Lack of sleep not only causes us to feel all around cruddy moving slower and showing visible signs of sleepiness. We become forgetful, can't concentrate, make bad decisions and are more irritable.

Alcohol - heavy and regular alcohol consumption has been proven to have negative affect on the brain, liver, pancreas and heart. Some reports show that moderate consumption can have a positive affect on the heart. Moderate consumption is identified as 1 drink for women and 2 for men on a daily basis. Greater consumption for a longer period of time can cause brain shrinkage, decreased muscle coordination, learning and memory impairment, high blood pressure, heart disease, stroke and pancreatitis. Mouth and throat cancer have also been associated with heavy, regular alcohol consumption.

Smoking - today, everyone knows that smoking can cause lung cancer and possibly even death. It is written on all the cigarette packs. It is taught in schools. Pamphlets can be found in every Drs.office. To live better longer we need to be aware of other negative affect that smoking has on our body like:

Less benefit from physical training

Less muscle strength and flexibility

Disturbed sleep patterns

Shortness of breath (3 times that of non-smokers)

The bad new continues. Affect that smoking has on our bones and joints can increase the risk of osteoporosis, hip fracture, rheumatoid arthritis, low back pain as well as exercise related injury like bursitis, tendonitis sprains and fractures.

The Hidden Dangers in Lotions and Creams!

The cosmetic market has many products to choose from. The skin care industry is one of the biggest culprits when it comes to products loaded with toxin. Regardless of being a regular user of cosmetics or not, all creams, sun block-lotions, even toothpaste etc. in small amounts over time become a toxic build up in your body. All these creams and lotions will provide short-term benefits but they come with the risk of long-term health consequences.

Your skin is where the first signs appear! The biggest threat to the health and appearance of our skin is something known as free radical damage. Free radicals occur naturally but their numbers can increase to overwhelming levels by factors such as poor diet, lack of exercise, pollution, chemicals and toxins. These highly unstable oxygen molecules wreak havoc if left unchecked, leading to critically high levels of inflammation, accelerated aging and other health problems.

Your skin is where the first signs of free radical damage becomes noticeable since it is especially vulnerable to oxidative stress and inflammation.

The products are only than organic when certified! It is important to realize that our skin is the largest organ of our body, there for enough damage can occur through absorption into the bloodstream. This is significant to remember: Up to 70 percent of what we put on to our skin goes into our bloodstream. A simple rule of thumb is: "Don't put it on your skin if you wouldn't put it in your mouth and eat it!"

Shopping for organic cosmetics becomes overwhelming with many claiming being organic, natural or naturally derived. It is difficult for users to know if the so-called "organic" cosmetics and creams on the shelfs are truly organic and the ingredients are really natural.

Is it Organic? There is a big difference between 'organic' and 'certified organic'. Without certification a product can contain just a few organic and natural ingredients and the rest are chemicals and synthetics.

It is necessary for any organic product being certified by a governing body that gives a guaranty the product has at least 95 percent certified organic ingredients and the rest is all natural.

Don't believe what labels say on any products! Food labelling is a fast to say the least, and this applies right across the board. The deterrent effect of mandatory labelling, exposed by failure of government's legislation has become one of our health problems with a strong increase in illness across the western world. From every perspective there has been this failure by most western governments to bring in and uphold a strict labelling law on food packaging. Most food administration departments are sitting on their hands, twisting their thumbs and manufacturers can put into cosmetics, creams and foods whatever suits them best. All of this is not only confined to one or two products. There are hundreds of household items as well from personal care, toiletries, creams, lotions, toothpaste to beverages.

These products used every day can provoke allergies, irritation, skin rash and many other health hazards.

Searching for the best and safest products! There are very few companies that make totally organic, chemical and toxin free products you can trust.

There for we must only choose pure quality, effective and safe to use for any age group even babies and children.

Techniques to Remove Unwanted Hair

Too much hair in places where you do not want it to grow is a distressing problem for many women and men. Luckily, getting rid of unwanted hair is not the problem that it used to be, and shaving or plucking excessive hair are no longer the only options people have available to them. In fact, with the advent of new technology, you can even get rid of it permanently. From temporary to short term to permanent, here are a few options for hair removal:

Shaving - Shaving is a quick and painless way to remove hair anywhere on the body. It is a temporary solution. Depending on how fast a person's hair grows, hair can even start to reappear the following days. Some men shave their faces in the morning and will already have regrowth by the afternoon. Razors can be expensive, but for the most part the investment is minor. There may not be pain associated with shaving hair, but if it is not done carefully there is a risk of razor burn or cuts on the skin.

Waxing - There are different kinds of hair wax on the market. The options range from cold strips to hot wax that cools when it is on the body. The general concept is the same no matter what kind of wax is used: wax is placed on the hair and when it is pulled off, hair goes with it. People have the option of applying the hair wax themselves, or going to an esthetician. Hair wax leaves the skin smooth and only needs to be applied every three to four weeks. There is a slight pain associated with waxing, and some people prefer to take a pain killer about an hour prior to application. Although it is not always the case, the hair tends to grow back thinner and sparser after being waxed in the same area many times.

Laser Hair Removal - The most expensive of all of these hair removal techniques is laser hair removal. Laser treatments involve a laser blasting the hair follicle and killing it. The solution is very long term to permanent. Since hair grows in cycles, most people need to treat an area three to six times to see results. People with light skin and dark hair have the highest success rates. Since the skin is most receptive to laser hair removal when it is at its lightest, it is recommend for people to stay out of the sun as much as possible in the time leading up to treatments. There is a very low risk for side effects when the procedure is performed by a licensed and experienced esthetician.

Acne Scar Removal Procedures

Surgical Methods To Rid The Skin Of Acne

Acne can be a very difficult thing to deal with. Acne tends to leave scars and blemishes that can leave your face looking unsightly. Although dealing with acne is a very common thing, there are millions of people who tend to suffer from it more severely. These people tend to develop an abnormal amount of acne, and the problem last for a much longer period of time. These types of scars can do more than just affect the look of your skin; they also have a huge impact on the individual's self confidence and self esteem. These are scars that can last a lifetime if not properly treated. Simply apply some sort of topical cream will not work. The best approach would be cosmetic surgery.

When you think of the needs of cosmetic surgery most do not think of acne. In fact, there are many surgical procedures ideal for curing the damage done by acne. These procedures are very effective and the positive effects of each can last for many years.

The Dermabrasion Approach

For instance, dermabrasion is an effective technique used rid the skin of the appearance of scars. The technique simply involves removing and getting rid of the top layer of skin where the scar or blemish is located. The process is done by an electrical machine. The machine gently erodes away the top layer of the skin exposing the second layer underneath it. Recovery time can take up to seven days after the procedure is done. After about a week the area will heal and eventually appear much smoother and free of blemishes.

The Dermal Injection Approach

This method of ridding the face of blemishes is also very effective. Acne can leave scars and slight dips in the skin where the various bumps use to be. Dermal injections are meant to help fill in these dips in order to create a much smoother surface on the skin. Overtime the body loses collagen. Doctors will place these injections underneath the skin as a replacement of the collagen. This method is also good to temporarily relieve the skin of wrinkles and lines. The method however is not everlasting, and will last for about six months or less.

The Laser Approach

One of the most popular surgical acne scar removal methods involves using a specialized laser to help repair the skin. This method involves intense light to remove the skin that is damaged. A similar laser may also be used in cases where the damaged skin is slightly raised. Either way the laser will lightly vaporize the exposed layer of skin. A new layer of skin will eventually grow and create a smoother look.

Chemical Free Skin Care: Check The Ingredients List

The number of chemical free skin care products on the market has been increasing. The concept of natural skin care, which has been introduced to help you in yielding the maximum benefit of the healing touch of nature, has been around for many years. Yes, over the last decade an array of skin care products have been introduced with the 'natural' or 'organic' tags. However, just because the product has been labeled as natural it doesn't necessarily make it hundred percent natural and safe for the skin. To be honest, there is hardly any legal definition for the term natural or organic in the ever evolving cosmetic industry and the only way to know that the product you are using is 100 percent natural is by reading the ingredients list well.

Check the so called chemical free skin care cream that is sitting on your shelf. Scan the label well and if you find an ingredient name that is pretty long or is too hard to pronounce then chances are that the innocent jar of hope contains harmful chemicals.

So, how do you know that the skin care products you are using are chemical free?

Simply check the ingredients list and remember any skin beauty cream or lotion that have the chemical ingredients such as methyl parabens, petroleum, alcohol, fragrance or any word ending in "paraben" and "paraffin" are unsafe to use. Yes, these are some of the most reckoned harsh chemicals to cause all sorts of skin rashes and irritations.

Look for only 100 percent natural ingredients in your skin beauty products to bring back the lost luster in your skin. Remember, whatever you put on your skin is as important as what you put in your body hence it is time to select natural skin beauty products that come with the natural healing ingredients such as 100 raw natural vitamin, organic mineral, natural oil, omega 6 fatty acids and natural antioxidants to help your skin gain back its soft and elastic structure.

Stop getting carried away by those hyped print ads and commercials. Honestly, anyone can buy advertisement space and good packaging and smart ads doesn't necessarily make the product great. Bank on your common sense to make an informed decision and don't buy just any off the shelf product, instead check well the ingredient list and look for ingredients in their raw form to make the maximum difference to your skin's look, feel and appearance.

Why natural skin care?

Will you ever wash your face with a ground cleaner? Would you ever drink washing detergent? Or inhale your engine degreaser? The answers are definitely a big and resounding no. Still, almost each day you drink, ingest and inhale chemicals by feeding your skin with harsh and synthetic chemicals and toxins in the form of so called anti-aging cream, serums, lotions and much more.

Consider the following points when choosing chemical free skin care products.

Your skin absorbs toxins: Your skin pass toxins out of your body, in the form of sweat, but do you know that your skin absorbs toxin as well? Yes, your skin acts more like a sponge than a barrier and absorbs almost 60 percent of the product you put on.

Chemicals in your so called anti-aging creams can cause premature aging: Mineral oils for instance, are typically known for coating the skin, for clogging the pores and also for preventing the release of toxins. Yes, they are also known for reducing the natural functions of the skin cells, which further contributes to premature aging.

Laser Liposuction History

Birth of liposuction

Liposuction is still a relatively young procedure. The concept has been developed in 1974 by a an Italian gynecologist Dr Giorgio Fischer and his father Dr Arpad Fischer. Their first publication was in 1976:"Fischer A, Fischer GM. First surgical treatment for modeling body's cellulite with three 5-mm incisions." Bull Int Acad Cosmet Surg. 1976;3:35. It was the beginning but the key concepts were there: cannula, suction, sculpting, tunnels. They have invented liposuction.

It was revolutionary but not perfect. The major problem was a very significant blood loss that sometimes would lead to fatalities. From 1977, French surgeons Dr Pierre Fournier and Dr Yves Illouz refined the technique making the liposuction less aggressive. They became very popular among their peers. In the early 1980's surgeons from all over the world came to Paris to learn this revolutionary new technique. In 1989 Dr Fournier published his book " Liposculpture ma technique. Paris, Arnette, 1989." In this book liposuction pioneers including Dr Fischer himself relate the birth and development of the procedure.

The second liposuction revolution

A major improvement was introduced in 1985 by an American dermatologist Dr Jeffrey Klein. Dr Klein invented the tumescent technique. This was a revolution because it became possible to perform a liposuction with a totally local anesthesia. Moreover, the blood loss was reduced to a minimal. The toxicity of the drugs was under control. The risks of a general anesthesia were eliminated. Patients were back to their normal life very quickly. Cosmetic results were greatly enhanced by the use of smaller cannulas. He made liposuction a reliable, safe and effective cosmetic procedure. It is still a gold standard today. Dr Klein has described his concepts and findings in his book "Tumescent Technique: tumescent anesthesia and microcannular liposuction. St Louis. Mosby. 2000."

From liposuction to laser liposuction

Always in search of technological advances, practitioners became interested in the use of lasers to treat fat deposits as an alternative to liposuction. In 1992 Dr Apfelberg made the first description of a Yag laser effect on the fat tissue. Despite encouraging results, the laser did not demonstrated a significant advantage and was not developed. But at the beginning of the 21st century doctors from South America (Goldman, Schavelzon, Blugerman) started to publish studies demonstrating the effect of the laser on fat and on the skin. Dr Katz and Dr McBean from New York have related this in their very interesting 2011 article laser lipolysis: an update. Soon, an Italian company would get the FDA approval for a laser device, the world famous "Smartlipo®".

Smartlipo was introduced in the UK in 2006. At this time, practitioners were taught to use the laser alone, without additional suction. Whilst the laser beneficial effects on speed recovery and skin tightening were obvious, it was not so good for body sculpting. Very logically, a lot of practitioners started to combine the laser and the suction giving birth to the laser liposuction.

Today, laser liposuction combines the benefits of the liposuction under local anesthesia (as described by Dr Klein 27 years ago) with the specific thermal effect of the laser on the dermis and blood vessels. Lasers have also improved in speed, power, safety. The first Smartlipo has now been replaced by a second generation of laser lipo. This combination of old and new techniques allows these clinical results in a day procedure without all the risks of the traditional liposuction with general anesthesia.

Effective Ways to Keep Your Skin Healthy

Many people worry about skin aging, as it greatly contributes to the development of fine lines, sagging face and wrinkles. Good skin care and healthy lifestyle choices can help delay the natural aging process and prevent different skin problems. Your skin deserves the best care, so here are some of the basic things you can do to ensure a healthy glowing skin all the time.

Protect Your Skin from the Sun

Protecting your skin from the sun is one of the simplest ways to take care of it. Too much exposure to the sun's rays can cause wrinkles, age spots, sunburn, and other skin problems. Studies showed that it could also increase the risk of skin cancer. Use a broad-spectrum sunscreen or sunblock cream with an SPF of at least 15 for a more complete sun protection. Reapply it every two hours if you are outdoors. Seek shade whenever possible to avoid excessive exposure to sunlight. Cover your skin with long-sleeved shirt and long pants when you go out between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m.

Avoid Smoking

You may be familiar with the harmful effects of smoking to your health, but may not know its impact on your skin. Smoking makes the skin look older and contributes to wrinkles. It narrows down the tiny blood vessels in the outermost layer of the skin, causing the blood flow to decrease. It also damages the fibres collagen and elastin, which give the skin strength and elasticity. The repetitive facial expressions you make when you smoke contribute to the development of fine lines and wrinkles.

Be Gentle with Your Skin

Cleansing and shaving can make your skin look younger and cleaner, but do not overdo it. Excessive cleansing or shaving can damage your skin's outermost layer, causing it to look older and rough. Limit your bath time, as long showers can remove the natural oil from your skin. Use warm instead of hot water to prevent your skin cells from dying or deteriorating. Avoid using strong soaps and detergents, as they can make your skin dry. Buy mild cleansers and hypoallergenic soaps, instead. You can also use safe and proven products like Moroccan oil to make your skin smooth and moisturized. Shave carefully to protect your skin from damages, cuts, and scrapes. Apply shaving cream, lotion, or gel before shaving.

Eat Healthy and Manage Stress

A healthy diet can make you feel and look younger. Eat plenty of fruits, vegetables, whole grains and lean proteins. Avoid eating too much fatty foods, as they can cause acne or pimples. Some researchers suggest that a diet rich in Vitamin C can promote younger looking skin. Stress can contribute to skin aging, so learn to manage and relieve it. Take a break and do the things you enjoy. Go on a vacation or spend time with your friends and family.

Acne Vulgaris Treatment Best Occurs From Within

Acne vulgaris is a skin condition that affects millions all over the world, particularly teenagers with their hormones in overdrive.

Now, while some take acne vulgaris in their stride and move on with life the usual way, for many it becomes a predicament too much to bear. Eventually, they start worrying obsessively about their acne affliction day in and day out, paying little heed to other everyday activities. Naturally, by this stage, it is clear that acne has completely taken over the lives of such people.

Keeping this aspect in mind, it is really very important to remember that acne can be treated relatively easily, that too in completely natural and simple ways. Further, one of the most important aspects to remember for all those suffering from acne is that it is best treated when treated from within, and not externally. Otherwise, the treatment remains only a temporary cure, till the next acne outburst, and not a permanent solution to the acne problem.

With this fact firmly entrenched in our minds, let us now look at some natural ways in which acne vulgaris can be prevented from occurring in the first place.

Maintaining Clean Skin

One of the first steps to preventing acne vulgaris is to ensure clean skin at all times, at least to the greatest extent possible. Otherwise, it is a known fact that dirty skin is the perfect breeding ground for acne.

This is especially true when dirt and grime combine with oily skin, especially if you happen to have naturally oily skin. So if you already have rather oily skin, it becomes even more important that you pay careful attention to keeping your skin clean and dry.

Skin Friendly Diet

Perhaps the most important aspects of preventing acne would be to ensure a diet which is skin friendly. Now, a skin friendly diet of course has various aspects attached to it. First up, we find that most foods high in their sugar content are not skin friendliness quotient at all. This would particularly include artificial sugars as contained in desserts, colas, candies and so on, as opposed to natural sugars like in fruits, which of course is good for your entire body.

So when it comes to a skin friendly diet, the first step would be to avoid artificial sugars.

In the same breath, it has been seen that fresh fruits and vegetables make a world of difference as far as preventing acne is concerned, so make sure that your diet plan maximizes the intake of fresh fruits and vegetables.

Avoiding Stress and Regulating Sleeping Hours

While in our adolescence, we often indulge ourselves to an extent where we end up being stressed, say about our tests and examinations, while also compromising on our sleep. Unknowingly, this has a poor effect on our skin, often leading to acne.

So a key factor in preventing acne from within would be to avoid stress and regulate sleeping hours.

Conclusion

The initiatives highlighted above can clearly go a long way in preventing acne vulgaris from within.

There's Nothing Wrong With Nappy Hair

A few years ago Don Imus, an American radio talk show host, caused some anger by remarks he directed at the Rutgers women's basketball team. He called them a bunch of 'nappy headed hos'!

Of course calling a group of talented ladies 'hos' (whores) isn't very nice but there also seems to be a suggestion that having nappy hair (a derogatory term for black hair in its natural state) isn't ideal and that's what we want to look at in this article.

Natural Black Hair

Natural black hair comes in a variety of textures - from soft and wavy, as can be found on the Fulani and Somali people, to the peppercorn textured hair of the Kalahari Bushmen.

Most Black people have hair texture somewhere in between, some of the characteristics of this hair type are:

  • it locks and tangles very easily which is why braids and cornrow styles work so well on black hair: they don't unravel
  • it doesn't grow as long and fast as other hair types which is good as it means new hairdos can be carried around for reasonable lengths of time
  • shrinks on contact with humidity/water

These characteristics aren't bad but they mean that natural black hair, if grown to a long length, requires more time and effort than other types of hair. This was never a problem in traditional African societies where everyone was happy about the way they looked, where they had the time to give their hair the attention it needed and where there were many solutions for keeping hair looking good and healthy.

Blacks in a White Society

But things were so much different when Africans were taken over to the Americas as slaves.

Being slaves, one thing they didn't have was too much time to themselves, certainly no time to maintain intricate braids and fashionable hair cuts. For many, the skills and knowledge needed to keep hair at its best would have been lost.

But worse than all this was the attitudes of the slave owners. Anything deemed too African was banned - music, language, religion and of course traditional black hair styles.

Europeans were assumed to be superior, the more like them a person looked (fair skin, straight hair) the more likely they were to be assigned the easier jobs in the master's house - a House Negro. The dark skinned, kinky haired Field Negro was bottom of the pile.

It is from this that the hatred of natural black hair has derived. So much effort went into devising ways to make Black hair look more European. Easy enough for those with 'good' wavy hair but for many Black women, trying to grow their hair long in the days before chemical relaxing and electrical straighteners, it would have been a troublesome nightmare.

Black Emancipation and the Civil Rights movement brought a growing pride in being Black and in the natural state of Black hair but it's still early days, the negativity towards natural Black hair still lurks in the background. Most high profile Black women in the States still prefer to relax their hair and you still get people bringing out those old insults.

The Number 1 Cause of Gray Hair

Did you know that the chemical make up of our bodies is directly responsible for how our hair looks and feels. Scientific studies have shown that our hair goes gray due to a depleting chemical in our bodies.

This becomes more and more severe as we age and if treated properly can actually help in stopping or reversing the onset of gray hair.

As we age our bodies create hydrochloric acid and this can be very detrimental to many of our bodily functions. The protein in our hair relies on there not being high levels of this chemical in order to produce healthy colorful hair. As the level of hydrochloric acid increases our hair follicles lose their ability to create good healthy melanin. Melanin is the key to maintaining the color pigment in your hair. What basically happens is that the acid bleaches the hair, in such a way that the color is drained from the hair strand. The hair strands become transparent and this against your darker hair gives the appearance of gray hair.

So why do the levels of Hydrochloric acid increase as we age.

These acidic levels are controlled by a natural occurring enzyme in our bodies called catalase and this protein ensures that the hydrochloric levels are kept at an acceptable level. Catalase has a unique ability to break the hydrochloric acid down to acceptable levels. Catalase decomposes the acid to water and oxygen and has one of the highest turnover numbers of all enzymes. One Catalase molecule can convert millions of molecules of hydrogen peroxide to water and oxygen each second.

The take away from this is that in order to prevent your hair going gray in old age or any age for that matter you need to ensure your Catalase levels are topped up.

There are products on the market that sell Catalase supplements so if you do suffer from gray hair or are starting to see signs of gray then you need to get hold of these supplements. If you do a search for getawaygrey you will find a product that has been very successful in reversing the gray hair in many people. The secret to the products success is in its ingredients. Its contains high levels of Catalase so taken over a period of 4 to 6 weeks will help increase these levels and in turn starve off the graying process.

If you are looking for a product to treat your gray hair then make sure it has the Catalase ingredient. There is no point using a product that does not go to the heart of the problem. If you treat this chemical imbalance then you are sure to be treating the problem.

Tips To Get Rid Of Acne

Most of us have suffered from the sudden popping up of pimples and acne on our faces, irrespective of whether they were caused due to stress or hormones. Generally, it is believed that pimples form when the skin of the individual is not clean enough. But, this is not true and here it should also be remembered that too much cleaning can also cause irritation to the skin. Here are some tips to you if you are thinking how to get rid of acne or how to get rid of pimples:

Treating of spots: Some people know that when pimples grow in larger numbers, they become acne. It can also be said that a pimple is a kind of acne. If you have one or two pimples that you want to destroy, you can opt for spot treatment. Rather than, using acne-killing and drying agents all through your face or skin, it is better to focus only on the areas that actually has it. Medicines containing, benzyl peroxide, salicylic acid, aspirin and tree tea oil are capable of removing them. One of the popularly known advice is not to pick them with your nail as it will spread the pimple and acne, rather than curing them.

Treating larger areas: If you are facing larger whitehead or cystic breakouts do not worry, you can still do something about it. Even though, you cannot remove them immediately, you can possibly reduce the swelling and redness immediately. In such a case, you will have to treat the entire face, you can make use of a face wash with salicylic acid content and a gentle exfoliation can also be helpful if you are worried about how to get rid of acne. You can also get some uncovering to ultraviolet rays from the Sun. The ultraviolet rays are capable of killing some bacterias that cause acne. However, do not get too much exposure since it can cause some sunburn on your face.

Long-term solutions: Reduction in the quality of sleep and stress can cause hormonal imbalances thereby causing them. So, it is better to ensure that you get at least 8 hours of sleep each night and during daytime, you can find ways to de-stress yourself in the middle of your busy work schedule to relax yourself.

Do you worry too much about how to get rid of pimples. This is because this worry itself can increase their existence. Rather, relax yourself with some medication and yoga practices on a daily basis and get a glowing skin that is free from any marks.

What's The Ultimate Skin Rejuvenation Treatment?

Aging is inevitable and sooner or later, you will see more wrinkles around your eyes and mouth more than ever. The good news is that while you cannot stop it from happening, there are ways you can delay its onset, thanks to modern technology. Today, there are a number of skin rejuvenation procedures that are designed to delay the onset of skin aging, if not reverse it. The question of millions of people around the world, however, is whether there's an ultimate skin rejuvenation treatment that can give them all they need in a single package.

Honestly, while some procedures are deemed more effective than others, there is no single procedure you can consider the ultimate solution to the aging problem. What works, on the other hand, is a combination of the various procedures available today. You can refer to it as a skin rejuvenation program, which should be personally customized to work for an individual and not for everyone.

The reason why skin rejuvenation programs should be customized to fit a particular patient's needs is that people are unique and differ in skin type and the condition they are suffering from. In choosing a skin rejuvenation program, there are several important factors to consider. The first three important factors are Desired Result, Downtime, and Budget. Moreover, the best skin treatment program may also vary depending on the patient's age, skin type, ethnicity, amount of sun exposure, and overall health condition. A good skin treatment program should be based on these factors in order for it to work.

Experts also agree that for a patient to get the optimum benefits a skin treatment program or procedure offers, the patient should be aware of the two stages of skin rejuvenation. The first or initial stage is the application of the treatment. It could be laser skin resurfacing, botox, fillers, or a combination of all. The second stage is the maintenance phase, where the patient is given instructions by the doctor on how to maintain the skin's healthy appearance after receiving treatment.

With all these facts in mind, what should be your option in choosing a skin care treatment? The answer is for you to find a good program that would suit your particular needs best. Fortunately, most skin care clinics today offer customized treatments to meet the specific needs of their patients. They understand that a particular procedure (laser skin treatment, for instance) is not best for everyone. As a result, they come up with a program for every patient they have individually and address each patient's needs in a more personalized way.

Cleaning Your Makeup Brushes - 101

Since I am often running from client to client and pulling wardrobe for photo shoot after photo shoot, lingering in any one store purely for pleasure is a thing of the past. So, it was quite the shock when I perused the aisles of a popular beauty spot only to find what could possibly be the messiest tester units I have ever seen.

Being in the beauty biz for as long as I have, I have developed what one might call a "physical" reaction to even the idea of dirty lipsticks, smeared eye shadow, unwashed brushes, and used mascara wands.

Why even as I write I have to pause (gulp) to regain my composure.

Fresh out of beauty school I did an event for a prominent makeup line at a she-she luxury store, where I was shocked to see that I was the only artist who had alcohol wipes or any means of sanitizing brushes between clients. I suspect this is because so few counter artists have formal beauty school training in sanitary procedures. And, of course over the years I have heard some hellacious stories from models that have fallen victim to unclean brushes and makeup palettes, which led to some serious doctor bills!

So the next time you are happily trying on makeup at your favorite mall joint, please dear readers keep this in mind:

Brushes accumulate makeup, oil, dead skin cells, and so much more. If not cleaned between uses brushes will harbor bacteria. Opt for using the cosmetic counter clean disposable brushes for lips, eyes, and lashes. For everything else use a clean sponge. If they don't provide these run as fast as those Manolo's can take you!

Anytime you book a makeup application at a makeup counter don't be afraid to ask questions: Were those brushes used on anyone prior to you? Have they been sanitized? How do you clean your brushes at this counter?

At home be sure to clean your brushes at least once a week with a mild organic shampoo or soap like Dr. Bronner's or an organic laundry soap, this will not only rid your brushes of the bacteria but your makeup will go on more smoothly and your skin will thank you. Though there are several brush cleaners on the market, many contain harsh chemicals-simple cleansers do the job just as well.

My favorite method for cleaning brushes is as follows:
Wet brushes in warm water, put a bit of soap/shampoo in the palm of your hand and swirl the brush around, work the cleanser through to the ends and rinse, repeat until the brushes are thoroughly clean.

Squeeze out excess water in a towel and lay brushes flat to dry on a separate towel.

Don't stand your brushes up to dry, eventually the water that drips into the ferrule (metal piece that attaches the handle to the brush) will weaken the glue and you will find yourself with topless brush handles.

Once the brushes are dry wipe them off again with a cotton pad and tea tree oil or alcohol to be sure that all bacteria is completely removed.

Secret Principles of Immortality, Edition 3

For one thing, the attributes of the alchemical or mythic immortal are often known by many names. These names have in some cases been translated as having alternately systemic, spiritual, personal, or ideological value. The tree of life known as the Sephiroth to the Hebrews may also be translated as the Derivellis, a tree of the permutations with some resemblance to the Net of Indra which reflects the many magnificent permutations of life. The secret of this device is as easily exceptionism, as the simple reality of manifestation, and any necessary associations one might have for the usefulness of experience.

Similarly, the dove device present in Christian religious motifs---including frequently stained glass windows---is also an ancient alchemical symbol used by alchemists to describe ambergris, the substance that was said to render the eater immortal. Especially in company of a cup, which can represent 'bounty' or 'psychology' alternately, as suggested by the Cups suit of Tarot used by Jews, the dove (or for the alchemists, traditionally the swan) might be marked with a Cross, which is part of the original alchemical symbol for ambergris: a device combining the swan and the cross.

It is interesting to note that a cross is one of the common symbols marked on a tree, used to symbolize the conjunction of lovers, or to make two people look like fools. If the conjunction with a woman is said to bring marriage and long life (expressed in the feminine symbol, which is similar to the Ankh), then this conjunction carving might represent a kind of figurative imbibing of ambergris, or alternately, in the case of fools, the danger said to be associated with digesting the substance.

The clear association in that case is also with the tree of the Sephiroth, and by extension Fortune and the Tower. These symbols are related to arbitrating the Fate of life, and hence the Fate of immortality. The tree carving, which appears popularly in Peter Pan, is also a sign of conjoining opposites such as Truth and Fable, Simplicity and Complexity, Macrocosm and Microcosm, and Specific and General. The figure of conjunction appears in alchemy as the Doppleganger or shape-shifter, the two-headed man, and the King and Queen or Sorcerer and Sorceress. The conjunction then becomes a symbol of the alchemical purification of thoughts or elements into philosophical gold, which can be linked to Buddhism. In Buddhist meditation, the process of discarding unnecessary thoughts leads to enlightenment and wisdom, called Nirvana.

It is an interesting point whether the Buddhist journey is all that is intended by the quest for immortality. Clearly, if that is not the case, then some have been fooled. Even if Buddhists will not admit that they are pursuing immortality, it is clear at least in the Mahayana tradition that Buddhas are immortals, that there are countless of them, and that the path leads there. I will leave off Buddhism as a metaphorical position, which is one actual stem or embodiment of what may be determined to be immortal. Perhaps Buddhists cope with the world, or perhaps they cope with immortality. It seems that from an ordinary point of view that this is indeterminate, for Buddhists, in this initial perspective, may be either enlightened or unenlightened. In either way, they may be Buddhists.

But what if religion is for the Gods? This would explain how the Christian trinity hold that there is only one-god-in-three, as though to say that the only God who is not God is the perspective of God, and as such, God is his own religion, besides being-actually-in-existence-somehow. Perhaps the culmination of some religious vantage points is that God has not yet been realized. This is in keeping with the current conventions about the pursuit of immortality. E.g. that it has not yet been a corporatized drug. If as physicists now claim, there are many vantages on the universe that are themselves immortal, but which are only realized from one angle, then this explains how God could seem emergent, rather than actual. Furthermore, if some of these perspectives could be realized by taking an immortality drug that is soon created, people would begin to believe that those perspectives always existed. They would believe that these perspectives, created by their own minds, were worthy of religion.

It is also possible that human imperfection goes a long way towards explaining the prospect of immortal life. Even ignoring a relative argument in which some form of immortality 'might not matter ultimately', it can be foreseen that human perspectives have a lot to do with the perceived reality of immortal life. They are the reality, aside from some 'obvious' factors which, collectively, may not always emerge even in the real case of an immortal being.

There are exceptions to the variablist view that immortality is a contingent case, which depends on examples and contexts of comparison. For example, someone may believe that the quest is foolish, or that fools are responsible for the failure to achieve some high-level psychological panacea. Or, someone may believe that God is one unified, utterly perfect being, who can only be achieved, if at all, in some form of singularity. I would argue that this last case is something like selling the soul of immortality. There is a case, in the context of my prior examples of four categories ending in adaptivity, for an adaptive view of immortality. Indeed, immortality if it is to exist, must be grounded not in some drugged-out semi-conditional 'prospectus' of reality (a dream in which nightmares are as real as functional conditions), but rather in the very urban, governmental, and role-playing environments which have been introduced as norms for functional people.

Returning to the first context of Systems, Spirituality, Personality, and Ideologues, and the second context of Tree, Cup, Bird, Cross there are numerous permutations which seem useful to the study of immortality.

For one thing, the tree seems like a system of government. Through the formalization of technology and support for modal existence and contingency, government may be a useful permanent symbol for immortal life, garbed in the appropriate justice of having helped people achieve that aim.

Secondly, chemistry and personality have become a quasi-permanent marriage via the institutionalization of drugs and the psychologization of personality and personality testing. People inevitably will be divided by personality and other data such as genetics and sexuality. This will be further influencing upon the structure of virtual reality environments ('The Metaverse') allowing partial realizations and experiments with what may otherwise seem like an exercise in patience.

Thirdly, the cross has become a kind of urban symbol which I associate with categorical knowledge (the Quadra, or Cartesian coordinate system, in relation to properties such as personalities or dualities), so there is an obvious integration of knowledge with society that has not always seemed possible. This carries over into the structuring of information, and hence the enhancement and overall integratedness of immortality and longevity.

Fourthly, the bird---a frequent symbol for the soul, said to have been raised by girls in noble families---and ideology, are inevitably combined. There is a new resurgence of the need for an Ideology of the Soul, as expressed in these prior conditions of psychology, personality, knowledge, and technology. It is pragmatically important that these sectors of reality, whether they are principles, or institutions, or just feelings being interpreted, are also encounters with the realm of chemical stimulation and information immersion. The overall prospect is very exciting, that is, when science leaps to meet up with the adequacy of imagination (for surely, we cannot rely on telepathy to find indicators of the permanence of the mind. At some point, life is a gift. And clearly, being as real as it is, the urban project for immortality is a good starting place).

Just What Causes Acne

Acne plagues many adolescents and young adults across the world. there are several things that contribute to the problem of acne. The main reason for a pimple to appear on your skin is due to the pore becoming clogged. when dirt or other debris gets into the pores it can become clogged and then you get the inflammation and infection associated with a pimple.

Your skin has many tiny holes called pores. Hair follicles grow out of these pores. Sebum which is the oil that is made by your skin pushes dead skins cells out through these openings. If debris plugs one of these holes, the hair shaft can become impacted and the oil and dirt have no way of escaping out of the skin. This will cause the redness, swelling and pus to appear.

You may wonder what causes acne to start appearing around the age of puberty or adolescences. The hormonal changes that a person goes through at this time can cause an acne breakout to occur.

There are different types of pimples that you can get:

Blackheads - these are clearly visible, they have a black center and come to the surface of the skin. The black is not dirt and trying to scrub them will not remove the blackhead and will not help.

Whiteheads - these type remain under your skin and are small then will generally get a small pus filled top to them.

Papules - these blemishes are visible and come to the surface of the skin. They are generally small and pink.

Cysts - become very visible at the surface on the skin. These are quite painful and usually fill with pus. Cysts many times will leave a scar.

Nobules - these blemished are very visible and are seen on the surface of your skin. These are large, hard pimples. They usually become painful and sit deeply embedded in the skin.

Pustules - they are clearly visible at the surface of your skin. These generally are red at the base then have pus at the top.

The best way to avoid these problems is to wash your face twice a day. Don't wash it more than that, or you will dry your skin and that can make inflammation worse. Keep your hands clean and don't touch your face with dirty hands. Keep phones, glasses and anything else that touches you face clean. This will keep Sebum and debris from getting in your pores to clog them.

Begin The Anti Aging Skin Care Routine At An Early Age

Once we reach our 20s, our skin may begin to age and sun exposure affects when dryness, age spots, and wrinkles appear. By beginning an anti aging skin care routine before skin aging sets in, we can extend the youthful appearance of skin. Incorporating anti aging skin products and practices into the daily regimen now can prevent the embarrassment of sagging, wrinkled skin later.

Sun exposure is the largest cause of premature skin aging, making sunscreen an essential product in an anti aging skin regimen. Broad-spectrum sunscreen should be applied prior to going outdoors during all times of year. Over a lifetime, exposure from even the briefest periods of heading to the car or mailbox can build up and reflect as premature skin aging, wrinkling, sun spots, and certain skin cancers.

Sleep affects our general health and it can also affect our skin health and aging. Skin is the largest body organ and scientists are discovering that "beauty sleep" is not just a myth. According to one study, people who got at least eight hours of sleep were perceived as healthier and more physically attractive. When we sleep, our entire body regenerates and renews itself. During sleep, growth hormone may be stimulated and released, resulting in cellular repair and rehydration. Sleep deprivation will be seen as well as felt.

Even the way we sleep can impact the way our skin ages, say some dermatologists. They believe that the way people sleep on their faces may determine where wrinkles occur and the results are different for different sexes. For example, male sleeping positions tend to result in wrinkles within the forehead area while women who are side sleepers tend to get laugh lines and deep wrinkles within their cheeks. Changing sleeping position can benefit the spine, back, and skin and sleeping on our backs may have the most skin benefits.

Many anti aging skin products are effective but require time to work. Users sometimes claim that an anti aging facial cream or serum does not work when this may not be true. People tend to expect immediate results and do not give these products enough time to work. Dermatologists note that it takes approximately 30 days for new layers of skin to reach the surface and it can take up to three months for collagen to be stimulated.

Diligence is also recommended because intermittent use will not yield the greatest results. Skin firming cream should be applied to clean skin each morning and evening so the skin-enhancing ingredients can do the most benefit. With regular use, products like this can reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles on a long-term basis.

By beginning the anti aging skin care routine at an early age that includes consistent use of the appropriate products and some healthy practices, even mature skin may look youthful. Natural products designed to combat sun damage and other environmental effects are gentle and do not require prescriptions. By selecting high quality products and giving these time to work, people can retain a youthful appearance for decades.

How Do IPL Hair Removal Systems Work?

Unwanted hair is more than just a mild irritation for a lot of people. In fact, it is something that can actually cause a person to be very self-conscious and may even lead to physical discomfort, depending on where the hair is located. While plucking and shaving are the time-honored ways of dealing with unwanted hair, modern technological advancements have given individuals a host of new options when it comes to both permanent and semi permanent hair removal. One of these options is IPL Hair Removal, but it is worth understanding exactly what this is and how it works before person decides that it is the right choice for them.

One of the reasons that many people choose IPL Hair Removal is because it is ideal for individuals who have sensitive skin. Many individuals find their skin breaking out if they try to shave and the creams and lotions that promise to quickly remove hair can actually be very uncomfortable to some people. An IPL system, on the other hand, is something that just about everyone can tolerate well and it is very effective at eliminating the problem of unwanted hair altogether.

IPL Hair Removal uses an intense pulse of light. Although it is often confused with laser hair removal, it is actually a different technique. Not only is this particular solution safe, it is also incredibly effective. Because it permanently removes the problem, an individual generally only needs one treatment in order to look and feel their very best. However, because it is permanent, IPL Hair Removal should only be used if an individual is absolutely certain that they want the hair gone for good.

While permanent removal may seem like an excellent option when it comes to unwanted facial hair, it is always a good idea to carefully consider all of the available options before a person chooses to permanently do anything. To put it very simply, once a person makes use of IPL Hair Removal, there is no going back. Sure, an individual may think that permanently cleaning up their bikini area, armpits, legs, back, arms, or even face is an easy way to make their morning beauty routine a much simpler process, but if there is any chance that a person does not want the hair gone for good, they may want to reconsider this particular method.

Another thing to keep in mind is that IPL Hair Removal is going to be more expensive than some of the other options that are available. While it is not nearly as expensive as many people might first think, it will definitely cost more than simply purchasing a razor, a pair of tweezers, or a cream from the local department store. In some cases, it may be necessary for a person to have the procedure performed more than once, which, obviously, adds to the overall cost of having it done successfully. Those individuals who have chosen this method often find themselves happy with the results and recommending it to friends and family who suffer from the same problems.

Selecting A Good Moisturizing Lotion Is Critical For The Best Skin Complexion

It is difficult to overstate the value of a high-quality moisturizing lotion when it comes to keeping your skin looking fresh and young. When you consider that your body is made up of approximately 60% water, it is easy to understand just how important it is to keep your skin properly moisturized. While every drugstore, department store, and even gas station is likely to have moisturizing lotion on the shelf, there is a very real difference between the high-quality products that can actually deliver on their promises and the ones that do little more than make your skin feel greasy.

If you happen to have sensitive skin then it is even more important for you to choose the best quality moisturizing lotion that you can find. Fortunately, this does not mean that you have to spend a small fortune on products that make promises that they cannot reasonably deliver. You may actually be surprised to find just how many high-quality products are available at your neighborhood store. The most important thing is to choose a product that actually provides hydration for your skin without irritating it, especially if you're complexion is the primary reason that you are purchasing one. You can usually test a small amount on your skin to ensure that it doesn't have any unwanted reaction.

Of course, even the best moisturizing lotion is not going to provide you with any real benefit if you do not use it on a regular basis. Generally, you should use the product at least once a day, if not in the morning and in the evening. If your skin feels greasy or slimy, you are either applying to much of the moisturizing lotion or are using a subpar product that probably isn't delivering the results you were hoping for.

While a lot of people use products to protect their skin while they are spending time outdoors, many individuals do not realize just how many different choices there are when it comes to moisturizing lotion that actually includes SPF protection. This allows you to hydrate your skin while also protecting it from harmful UV rays of the sun.

The winter is the perfect time to use a moisturizing lotion because the air is usually much drier which means that your skin needs even more hydration than normal. If you find yourself spending a great deal of time outdoors, you may find that the skin on your hands, cheeks, and forehead gets red. This is due to dryness in most cases and can be quickly remedied by applying a little bit of lotion to the skin. Of course, if you use a good quality product on a regular basis, this can probably be avoided altogether. Likewise, lines and wrinkles on your face and hands can be greatly reduced and even prevented if you regularly use a moisturizing lotion.

Not only will your skin feel soft and healthy, it will look better than you ever imagined if you add these products to your daily beauty routine.

Athlete's Foot and Leather Footwear

As you probably have read "athlete's foot" is a common condition caused by a fungal infection. If these organisms called dermatophytes multiply, your skin can become infected. Known as "tinea pedis" fungus which thrives in warm, moist environments, is easy to catch if you walk barefoot in warm, damp places like showers, bathrooms and swimming polls - can affect your skin, especially in the spaces between the toes (often between the 4th and 5th toes initially) and possibly small pustules, what makes it itchy, flaky, red and dry. It isn't serious, but it's better to treat it sooner rather than later. If it is not treated effectively, the infection can sometimes spread to other parts of your body, such as the toenails, causing a fungal nail infection, or the palms of your hands. If your skin gets hot, red, and swollen you could have a bacterial infection too.

However, there are some effective treatments which can be done at home - wash your feet every day, wear socks made of cotton or wool and change them at least twice a day, powder the feet with anti-fungal powder and use special creams and sprays which you can buy from a pharmacy without a prescription. Instead of special anti-fungal powder you can also sprinkle a little baking soda in socks before putting on shoes. Vinegar (white or balsamic) solution soak or water with common salt might help as well. After you have a bath or shower, dry your feet carefully. If the athlete's foot has not started to respond after two - three weeks antifungal treatment you should see your doctor, who may prescribe a stronger antifungal cream or antifungal tablets. Getting medical advice is always a safe measure.

One of the recommended main ways of preventing "athlete's foot" is wearing open-toe real leather (not synthetic because only real leather allows your feet to 'breathe'), canvas and real sheep's wool footwear. Amongst house shoes, men slippers made of genuine leather would be the best idea because it affects mostly men who wear trainers, and people (mostly men too) who are forced to wear tight-fitting rubber footwear and other non-breathable footwear because of their job. The Athlete's foot fungus is very stubborn to be honest, and without proper treatment, will keep returning. Keeping infected areas dry is essential, so real leather and sheep's wool will let the moisture out, and keep you feet healthy.

Here's an Effective Treatment Alternative for Acne and Unpleasant Scars

Different Type of Laser Treatments:

Blue Light Therapy:

Blue light therapy targets the Propionibacterium that causes bacterial growth as well as inflammation. The procedure eliminates the Propionibacterium acnes and stops the growth of bacteria. The procedure involves a set of treatments in which the skin is exposed to low intensity blue light from the laser device. However, it involves some side effects such as skin redness and dryness.

Pulsed Light and Heat Therapy:

The second type of laser treatment involves pulsed light and heat therapy, which aims at eliminating P. acnes as well as shrinking the sebaceous glands. This causes a decrease in the production of oil and consequently reduces acne. The procedure however causes redness and dryness of the skin.

Diode Laser Therapy:

Another type of laser for acne treatment involves diode laser therapy. This therapy aims at destroying the sebaceous glands, which is situated in the middle layer of the skin. When these glands produce excess oils, it triggers acne breakouts. Once destroyed, these glands stop secreting oil, thus preventing an outbreak of zits. However, this procedure can be quite discomforting.

Fractional CO2 Laser:

Fractional CO2 laser is the latest in skin care technology. It is considered as the gold standard procedure for treating acne, scars, pigmentation, stretch marks; photo aged skin, and dull skin tone and texture, on both the face and body. The CO2 fractional laser makes tiny microscopic holes in the skin, into the dermis, while leaving the surrounding skin intact. These microscopic holes cause the production of new collagen, which fills the scars and generates rejuvenated and smoother skin.

Fractional CO2 laser for acne treatment is one of the most effective and sought after laser procedures available in the market today. The longer wavelength of the CO2 laser allows deeper penetration, which helps in skin exfoliation and rejuvenation. Most patients can notice a visible improvement in as early as one week after the procedure. The results continue to improve over the next couple of months.

Advantages of Laser Treatment:

· An effective remedy for treating acne and the scarring caused due to it

· Clearer skin, healthier and more radiant skin

· Enhances the production of new skin cells

· Generates results in fewer sessions with shorter recovery time

· Safe, comfortable and non-invasive procedure

· Minimal or no downtime

· Eliminates the need for oral medication

Oral medications and topical creams can be used to control an outbreak of pimples, but they could dry or irritate sensitive skin and not prove to be as effective as laser treatment. Also, acne that occurs on the chest and back can be difficult to treat using topical applications. On the other hand, laser treatment is a safe and effective alternative that can provide permanent results. Although the cost for laser therapy is more than other treatments, the result it provides makes it worth the money spent.

Manicures and Pedicures 101

Manicures and pedicures are one of the easiest and most fun ways to spoil yourself. In fact, they are two of the most popular treatments that are performed at beauty salons. There are a number of options and extras that can take the pampering to the absolute top level. This will provide you some insight into what all goes into a good manicure and pedicure.

Nail Polish

Before your manicure or pedicure begins you will have the opportunity to choose the color of polish that you want. Of course, everybody knows that manicures and pedicures are all about the color! There are a number of colors to choose from. Don't be afraid to step out of your comfort zone and choose something that you wouldn't ordinarily. If you are feeling like you need a bold change, try out a wild color. Or if you feel like keeping it simple go with that! The point here is that you can do whatever you want. The choice is yours.

Shape up

The next part of the process is the shaping of the nails. During this time your nails will be buffed and shaped so that they are uniform and smooth. This will ensure that your nails look even and that all potential hang nails have been removed. Your cuticles will also be pushed down and clipped to provide a fresher look.

Enjoy the Massage

Usually with manicures and pedicures you should be given a relaxing massage to your hands or feet. Some salons offer warm pools of water to soak your hands and feet in to add more relaxation to the experience while also including nutrients in the water to feed your skin. Not only is this a time to help you relax, but also when the technician is applying much needed moisture to your skin.

Strengthen your nails

While many people opt for a manicure and pedicure because it leaves their nails looking great, there are also other benefits. A good salon will include a number of oils, herbal pastes, and special polishes that will strengthen your nails so they are less likely to chip and break.

Relax

More than anything manicures and pedicures are meant to be a time to unwind. The typical amount of time spent on a manicure or pedicure is roughly half an hour. In that time you will be able to allow yourself to relax and beautify yourself at the same time. You will walk away look good and feeling even better. And you wonder why so many people do it!
